Home Our simple goal at Emsoff Livestock Co. is to produce quality market animals, whether they be for show or just butcher. Emsoff Livestock Co. is locate on 60 acres of high desert in the northeastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, about 20 miles north of Reno, Nevada, just west of the California border. We run the sheep on leased pasture during the summer in the Sierra Valley. |

Sheep We strive to provide 4-H and FFA members with a local source of top quality lambs that will compete well not only in the local shows, but elsewhere as well. We feel that we have built a flock of quality breeding stock that is able to meet that goal. Our sheep come from a variety of Champion bloodlines: Cabaniss, Hindman, and Mason. Not only should our lambs perform in the ring, they will perform in the breeding herd as well. All our replacement ewes are bred to lamb as yearlings. Our mature ewes are expected to give birth to and raise twins. Our rams are level, structurally sound, and muscular.
In addition to producing high quality club lambs,
any surplus lambs are sold for butcher . Our lambs are not only meaty,
but they are larger and younger at slaughter, resulting in more tender,
larger cuts of meat for the buyer. In fact, many of our lambs are
slaughter-ready a full two months before average! We can arrange with
a local butcher to have lambs slaughtered, cut, and wrapped, so you can
purchase your lamb, and in a couple weeks, pick up your frozen, ready to
cook meat. |

A Bit About Us We both were brought up with agriculture backgrounds, raising and showing a variety of animals as kids and participating on numerous livestock judging teams. Frank was raised in rural north-central Texas, the heart of cattle country and the birthplace of the American meat goat industry. He obtained a degree in Range Management from Abilene Christian University in 1999. Frank has a broad range of experience, mostly with cattle, working for feedlots and ranches throughout the country. This has given him a good knowledge of livestock husbandry and health. Crystal is from northeastern California. She earned her Animal Science degree in 2001 at Abilene Christian University. Animals and agriculture has always been her passion. She has raised a variety of livestock including sheep, goats, cattle, hogs, horses, and rabbits. Crystal has worked on a sheep and cattle ranch and for the U.S. Forest Service as a Range Technician. Crystal is currently the area's 4-H lamb leader. Our two children, four-year-old Case
and one-year-old Justus, make our family complete. Our boys already love
the critters. Case made his debut in the showring last year with his peewee lamb and bottle calf and Justus is hot on his heals! |
